Lipetzky’s Irrigation and Landscape is proud to be working with Augustana College and Sioux Falls Construction on the new on-campus football stadium. The Winkels Group in Sioux Falls is managing the project. The stadium will be home to the Augustana College Vikings NCAA Division II football team. The Kirkeby-Over stadium will open its gates on September 5, 2009.

Lipetzky’s Irrigation and Landscape has been engineering and constructing a 13,000 square foot, versa-lok retaining wall that will cover a distance of one-half mile around the stadium. When completed the multi-tiered wall will be comprised of approximately 17,000 blocks each weighing 80 lbs. Precise workmanship and attention to detail are crucial to obtaining a solid and sturdy wall of this magnitude.

Augustana Kirkeby-Over football stadium is a state of the art football complex with a recessed all weather playing field. Teams will compete on a FieldTurf surface in a bowl like venue. The exterior skin system is a combination of structural/architectural precast and split-face block.

The stadium will house over 7,000 fans through a combination of seating options. Chair and bleacher type seating will accommodate about 5,600 fans. Grass berms sitting six feet above the recessed field have room for another 1,000 fans. There will also be 10 suites which will have a total of 144 seats for the press, coaches and a control room, along with a “Presidential Suite” that seats 24.
